Tiny tortoise's enclosure!

The base of the enclosure stays the same however...

The roof to the enclosure is swapped around (The inside cage with lights, the outside, without)

Wednesday 25 July 2012

Today we woke up Tiny tortoise with a nice long bath, and only put him out in the shade. This has made the world of difference and he spent most of the day exploring and climbing very small spaces.
Not only this, but Tiny tortoise has eaten all his dandelion, most his bind weed and all of his bindweed flower !

Tuesday 24 July 2012

Today tiny tortoise hasn't eaten anything - he mostly stayed in his house with his head in the sun, and didn't move very much, not even when we rigged up a platform for shade - concerned he was over heated.
If the weather continues  to  be sunny, how can we get him to have suitable amount of food and light?
Also, because he was semi buried, or asleep - Tiny tortoise didn't have a bath today.
We're a bit worried.
HOW TO WASH A TORTOISE'S HEAD
You have to start by stroking the head. When your tortoise is relaxed, replace your finger with a tooth brush and brush off all the dirt.

We went before tiny tortoise woke up, now he's gone to sleep!

Sunday 22 July 2012

Sorry about the temporary silence, I couldn't get on to the sight!
On a happier note, yesterday we put tiny tortoise out for the first time, he spent the whole day, including his bath, outside. Tiny tortoise has had two very active days of moving leaves, eating and generally running around!
Cat meet tortoise, tortoise meet cat!

CLEAN'N HEALTHY
Today was tiny tortoises bath, when inside... he didn't seem like it! Because of this, it was quite hard to clean him with his personal tooth brush!  After seventeen mins of washing and waiting, tiny tortoise earned a rest. We plopped him down on a towel to explore, not only did he explore his towel, he explored quarter of the living room! However when he was back on his towel, he did his first wee - this is very exiting.

BURIED ALIVE!
Today I was just passing the tortoise enclosure when I noticed that I couldn't see tiny tortoise, out of curiosity I peered inside. He was no where to be seen! At first I thought he'd escaped, but then I noticed a small black pile of dirt - he'd buried himself! We think this is because either: He needed some privacy, wanted a rest or it was just too hot.

Tiny tortoise is now eating a whole host of things including bind weed, plantain and a bit of clover - which he doesn't seem so keen on!
success, success, tiny tortoise has done his first poo!
It seems that tiny tortoise's favourite food has quickly become dandelion, he is currently working his way through a huge leaf and is making steady progress!

The feast is starting!

It's tiny tortoises first morning at his new home, instead of sleeping in his two huts that we made for him, tiny tortoise seems to have taken to sleeping under his log in the corner!Around quarter past eight tiny tortoise got up and  is now exploring, very slowly, once again!

Monday 16 July 2012

Today tiny tortoise arrived,he's a Mediterranean spur thigh (Testudo Graeca Ibera). His shell's just over 2 inches long and he's about a year old. As soon as he came,he started exploring by shoving his nose into, or clambering over everything. Once finishing his inspection of the ground, tiny tortoise turned his expertise to climbing his enclosure, which seems to be a talent of his!
Tiny tortoises new enclosure!
